SiriusXM is sad to report that Takeoff, best known as one-third of the hip-hop trio Migos, has died at the age of 28 after an early morning shooting today (November 1) in Houston, Rolling Stone confirmed.

Takeoff was with his uncle, Quavo, at the time of his death — around 2:30am at a bowling alley. Houston police confirmed two other people at the scene were shot and taken to a nearby hospital.

Born Kirshnik Khari Ball, Takeoff was the youngest member of Migos, a group formed in Georgia alongside Quavo and and his cousin, Offset, in 2008. They became multi-platinum hitmakers, starting with their first major hit, “Versace,” in 2013. The group went on to hit number one on the Billboard charts with “Bad and Boujee” in 2016.

Takeoff and Quavo had just released the music video for their song “Messy” on Monday.

SiriusXM remembers Takeoff on Hip-Hop Nation (Ch. 44), where you can hear tracks from Takeoff and Quavo’s new album, Only Built for Infinity Links, as well as Migos every hour, plus more on Pandora Now (Ch. 3) and Shade 45 (Ch. 45).

This story is still developing. Check back for more details.
